Past Runners Reveal All!

Running the Asics British 10k London Run for Kidscape is both rewarding and fun, but don’t take our word for it.  Kidscape’s 2008 British 10k London Run team reveal all…

Emma Huxley, who has run the 10k two years in a row, explains why she keeps coming back…

"I ran the 10k for Kidscape for the second time in 2008. It was a good motivator to keep fit and it felt great to cross the finishing line in a better time than last year (I'm sure the lightweight Kidscape running vest helped). The Kidscape staff kept in touch with me personally throughout my training and encouraged my fundraising efforts. Best of all, I knew that the sponsorship I raised was going to a cause I really believe in."

Steve Adams and Roxie Palmer keep coming back to the London 10k…

“After signing up for the 10K run in 2007 at a charity event for Kidscape we embarked on the training in January this year.

Well, you ask 'did the training pay off on the day and did you beat your target time of under an hour'? The start was difficult as we could not get through the traffic (over 27000 people ran it so the road was busy) and thus we were slightly off pace at 3km. At 7 km the pain struck us both, but with the target time in our sights we pushed hard and went for it... Crossed the line in 58 minutes 30 seconds and felt overwhelmed with our achievement.
We met up with Jess and the other Kidscape runners afterwards, and then headed straight home on the train, quick shower and out for a nice pizza and beer... well, we earned it!

The day was great fun and to top it all I'm as fit now as I was in my late teens when playing football for the local pub!”.
