Where are the ZAP workshops held?
ZAP community workshops are usually delivered in London and South Wales. At the current time we are delivering the workshops through video conferencing. To register your interest please complete the online enquiry form or email email@example.com.
When do ZAP workshops run?
At the current time we will be delivering a ZAP community online workshop at least once a week.
What time do the ZAP workshops start and finish?
ZAP community workshops typically run from around 10:00am-4:00pm with a break for lunch. Exact timing may differ depending on the venue and will be confirmed with you when booking a workshop place. The ZAP community online workshops are 1 hour long.
How much does it cost to attend a ZAP community workshop?
ZAP Community workshops are free of charge.
Do I need to bring lunch?
Yes. Please bring a packed lunch for you and your child (only applicable to day workshops).
Does a parent or carer need to take part in the workshop?
Yes, all young people must be accompanied by a parent or carer for day to day workshops, and we require at least one parent to take part in sessions that are delivered online. The parents' session is an integral part of ZAP community workshops as adults will be given the critical information needed to provide their child with ongoing support.
Do I need to declare that my child is on medication? (applicable to day sessions)
Only if your child will need to self-administer medication on the day. Please let us know in the application form.
Should I notify you in advance if my child has special needs or a disability?
Yes, please let us know in the application form so we can ensure that your child is supported to participate during the workshop and feels safe.
Do I need the school's permission to bring my child to ZAP? (applicable to day workshops)
If your child is attending a ZAP Community day workshop during school time, you must notify the school and receive official permission for your child. In our experience, schools are very willing to authorise absence for the purpose of ZAP. However, if you are concerned, please download our letter template written by the ZAP coordinator and addressed to the head teacher, which outlines the benefits of the workshop and makes an official request to grant absence.
Can I bring another child with me on the day?
We do not have the resources to take care of siblings on the day and due to confidentiality reasons, we also do not allow children to join the parents' session.
What age will the other children attending the workshop be?
All children invited to attend a ZAP community workshop will be with peers of similar age.
Will my child be asked about their bullying experience during the workshop?
No. ZAP trainers will never ask any young person about their bullying experience.
Why is practising the skills learnt at ZAP so important?
It is really important for parents to familiarise themselves with the skills their child learns at ZAP so they can practise these with them afterwards. Only once a young person is comfortable in using these skills will they be able to become assertive and more confident in dealing with the bullying.
How many times can my child attend a ZAP workshop?
Due to the amount of children who are much in need of support, unfortunately young people can only attend ZAP once.
Can I get in contact directly with other parents/young people who are in my ZAP workshop?
Many parents and young people make lasting friends from ZAP, and we encourage families to stay in contact if they wish. But due to confidentiality reasons, we cannot divulge contact details of ZAP attendees, so please be sure to exchange these on the day.
What help can you offer families after attending a ZAP course?
Kidscape has an extensive advice section online for young people and parents, and a collection of downloadable resources that are expanding regularly. To stay in touch, please keep visiting the Kidscape website.
I would like to support Kidscape, how can I do this?
