Kidscape
unveils new Youth AmbassadorsSabrina Beevor and Samuel Phillips announced as Kidscape's first ever youth ambassadors, providing a voice for young people in shaping Kidscape's work and sharing their experiences with others.
Sabrina and Samuel are both graduates of Kidscape's ZAP course, having attended sessions in 2005 which helped them to become more confident and cope better with bullying.
Since then they have become dedicated and passionate supporters of our work, and have done all they can to promote Kidscape to their friends, families and local communities.
In addition to this, Sam and Sabrina have represented Kidscape on a number of important media and fundraising occasions, talking about the ZAP course and the effect it had on their lives, in particular at Kidscape:The Party in 2007 and to representatives from Children in Need in 2008.
Sabrina says: "When I first moved to secondary school, I had a very bad bullying experience. Being bullied was a really horrible experience, not only for me but for my family as well. Kidscape helped me so much – whenever we needed them they were just a phone call away and nothing was ever too much trouble. They really helped me so much. Without Kidscape, I wouldn’t have been able to get through any of the experiences and thanks to them I realised that no one deserves to be bullied. They are all such caring and fantastic people. They supported us and other targets, so we need to support them! Thank you Kidscape!"
Samuel said: ”It was a sad time. I went to Kidscape and it was really good. It helped me and it helps lots of children. I was really pleased to be elected as Youth Ambassador so I can tell other children about my experiences."
Watch Samuel's 2006 appearance on the Paul O'Grady show, where he talks about his experiencesand how Kidscape helped him with anti-bullying techniques.
