Gok Wan, Specsavers and ZAP

Specsavers has been an extremely generous sponsor for the last two years, and on April 29 staff members, and a founder, came to Kidscape to see their donations in use in a very special ZAP day.

Parents and children, as well as the Kidscape staff, were delighted to welcome Dame Mary Perkins, Co Founder and PR Director of Specsavers, and Gok Wan, the TV personality who works with them and sports an impressive pair of specs.

ZAP Kids Children and their families had been thoroughly briefed, as this was a ZAP with a difference, something that was clear when Dame Mary and Gok found their places in the circle. The children took it all in their stride, as each participated in the ZAP experience, led by Claude and Peter.

Gok shared something of his own difficult childhood, and bolstered everyone, as did Dame Mary. By lunchtime, the children had been taught our unique ZAP skills, and then an hour was spent with Gok posing for pictures with each child and family (and a few members of staff, who couldn’t resist). Specsavers’ gifts of outstanding goodie bags capped a day of excitement for everyone.
