RISE workshops

Supporting the move up to secondary school

During 2019 Kidscape will be piloting the delivery of RISE workshops in schools. These are aimed at young people in Year 6 moving up to secondary school but can also be adapted to meet the needs of a new Year 7 group, supporting them to manage their transition.

About the workshop

Through taking part in a RISE workshop a child will be supported to:

  • Grow in confidence
  • Understand how to manage change
  • Make new friends
  • Deal with difficult situations
  • Stand strong against bullying
  • Know how to speak up and get help

Workshops are two hours in length and designed for groups of up to 15 young people and delivered in a classroom setting, with a combination of scenarios, role plays and discussions.

Teachers/TAs are expected to support the facilitator with classroom management and certain activities where needed.
