Role summary
Kidscape provide assemblies and workshops in schools to help raise awareness of bullying and to increase the confidence of young people to take positive action to stop a bullying situation (ZAP in Schools). We also provide community based workshops (ZAP in the Community) to support children and families going through a bullying situation. In addition to this we seek to empower parents and carers to help keep children safe, and are recruiting volunteers to deliver Digital Safety and Cyberbullying workshops for parents and carers.
Main duties and responsibilities
As a School and Community Volunteer there are lots of ways you can get involved including:
- Delivering assemblies to help raise awareness of bullying
- Assisting Kidscape staff with classroom workshop activities
- Providing guidance to children and young people in the workshop tasks
- Providing the children and young people with support and encouragement
- Delivering digital safety and cyberbullying workshops to parents and carers
- Supporting the Kidscape Representative with contacting schools and booking assemblies and workshops
- Helping to raise awareness of Kidscape in your local area
Person specification
As a School and Community volunteer we ask you to demonstrate your skills, ability and experiences in the following areas:
- Ability to engage with children and families in a supportive way
- Good organisational skills
- Commitment to supporting children and young people and reducing bullying
- Commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people (see our 'Keeping Everyone Safe' code)
- An enthusiasm to learn new skills in empowering and supporting children and families
- An ability to inspire and motivate others
- A willingness to reflect on your own contribution and respond to feedback
Self-declaration form and DBS check will be required for this role.
